OLD COUNTRY BUFFET HOT FUDGE
PUDDING CAKE
 
CAKE:

1 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted shortening
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt, milk, shortening and vanilla. Blend until smooth.

Pour cake mixture into ungreased 9-inch square pan.

TOPPING:

3/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
1 3/4 c. hot water

In small mixing bowl, mix together brown sugar, cocoa and hot water, making sure that the brown sugar is dissolved. Pour over batter. Bake at 350°F for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake is set. Best when served warm. Top with Cool Whip, whipping cream or ice cream if desired. If doubled, put in 9x13-inch pan.

Absolutely great!!! I love the hot fudge pudding cake when I go to Old Country Buffet but now I can eat it whenever I want to. Followed the directions exactly and I love it. I added my own homemade powdered sugar and it was just like Old Country Buffet. Thanks for adding this recipe will definitely make this again.

just made this tonite..It is similar to the Old Country buffet...something is a little lacking though and cannot put my finger on it, almost like it needs more of a thicker chocolate flavor. Still good though thanks
