SALTINE-DATE TORTE 
12 saltines, crushed
12 dates, cut up
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder

3 egg whites
1 tsp. almond extract (or vanilla or rum)
1 tsp. water

Fold first mixture into second. Bake about 30 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
