MORAVIAN COOKIES 
1 pt. molasses
1/2 oz. or 2 tbsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. cloves
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. ginger
12 tbsp. sugar
12 tbsp. shortening
2 1/4 lbs. flour

Mix molasses, soda and sugar. Add melted shortening; mix well. Sift 1/2 of the flour and spices; add to molasses mix so that dough will be stiff enough to handle. Refrigerate overnight.

Use remaining flour to roll out dough very thin and cut cookies. Use well greased cookie sheets. Bake at 300 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
