COCOA FUDGE CAKE | |
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 6 tbsp. cocoa (Hershey's) 1/2 cup soft shortening (Crisco) 1 cup buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan. Sift together into mixing bowl: flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and cocoa. Add shortening, buttermilk and vanilla. Beat vigorously for two minutes. Note: You can use an electric mixer if you scrape the sides down often. Use medium speed. Add both eggs. Beat two more minutes. Scrape batter together and be sure its all blended. Pour into prepared baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Ice, in or out of pan, with your favorite fudge icing. Submitted by: Jade Baric |
