OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE 
1 3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. uncooked oatmeal
1 c. lightly packed brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1 stick butter (1/2 c.)
2 extra lg. eggs
1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cocoa
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes. Add brown and white sugar and butter. Stir until butter melts. Add eggs. Mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, and cocoa. Add flour to sugar mixture. Mix well. Add about 1/2 package of chocolate chips. Pour batter into greased and floured pan, 9 x 13 inches. Sprinkle walnuts and remaining chocolate chips on top. Bake in oven preheated to 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
