1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. applesauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. quick cooking oats

Cream shortening and sugar, stir in egg. Sift dry ingredients, mix in oats. Add to creamed mixture with applesauce. Beat well. Add chocolate chips. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake about 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
