SAUSAGE AND CABBAGE DINNER | |
1 lb good smoked sausage, cut into "coins" 1 small green cabbage, cut into eight wedges 3 medium Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces 3 medium onions, peeled and cut into quarters 10 baby carrots 2 stalks celery, cut into 3 inch pieces 1 tblsp chicken bullion granules Fill a large pot with hot water and put on stovetop; bring to a medium boil. Add potatoes, onions, and baby carrots. Return to medium boil and cook for about 35 minutes, or until potatoes are soft. After 15 minutes, add cabbage, celery, and chicken granules to pot and continue to cook. After 5 more minutes add sausage coins to pot. When potatoes are done, turn off the heat and ladle some of everything, including the broth, into large, broad bowls. Serve topped with salt, black pepper, and butter (if desired). Should serve 5-6 people. This is an old family favorite, and it is delicious. Submitted by: Stephen Easley |
