DATE NUT BREAD 
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. dates, cut up
1 c. boiling water
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder

Pour boiling water over cut up dates; allow to cool. Cream together sugar, butter, egg, salt. Add the cooled dates and water; add the flour, salt, soda and baking powder mixture. Put in lightly greased bread pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. When thoroughly cooled, slice and spread with cream cheese to serve with salads or good with a luncheon meal.
