Tater Tot Casserole is my family's favorite meal. We make it by layering a greased casserole dish with thawed tater tots (covering the bottom and sides. Brown a pound of ground beef and drain. Mix that with a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of drained whole kernel corn, a can of drained, french cut green beans, and a small can of drained mushroom pieces. Mix in a clove (or two -- we love it!) of chopped garlic. That mixture gets spread evenly in the tater tot lined casserole dish, and put another layer of thawed tater tots over the top. Bake at 400°F for 45 min. to an hour, until it's at least 160°F in the middle. It's the best!!

This is the first time I've ever wanted to add a comment-anywhere! You people are funny!! Who cares what kind of potato you use? As you can see, everybody has different ways to make everything! Just be thankful for the nice person who took the time to give you all the recipe. Have a good day!

LOL!! The comments for this recipe are hilarious...especially the first 3 or 4! Now for my input, I've never had Tot Casserole WITH meat before. Sounds interesting and will definitely try it! Think Tater Tot casserole would be really difficult to screw up, since there are so many variations to the recipe.

OH no! Tator tot casserole is not Tator tot casserole without the TOTS! LOL

I have never tried this one, but I think I will. The norm for us is 2 lbs. hamburger, 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, can of corn, can of beans, chopped onions. Line tator tots in rows on TOP! Cook uncovered and the tots get crispy. Big recipe, but what can I say I have 5 boys to feed. LOL

Just my imput....I've made tator tot casserole for years. I usually use cream of chicken soup, corn, onion, hamburger, salt & pepper and tator tots but like others have said its a recipe you can't screw up. Put your favorite potatoes and vege's in there whatever you like.

What a laugh. This was my kids favorite sick meal. Raw hamburger, frozen Tots, salt, peper and a can of cream of something. But what with one difference I spiked the tots into the hamburger then iced the tots and hamburger like a cake with the soup. Baked until bubbling. Haven't made it in years but will soon. Long live the tots!!

When I learned to make tator tot casserole, it was a layer of tator tots, browned hamburg with your choice of soup (I prefer cream of mushroom), then some cheddar cheese, then tator tots on top, and bake till tots were done. I have even put cheese on top and its always been yummyyyyyy....

First of all...LOVE this site. Great recipes!! Down here in Canada we have a restaurant called Taco Time and they have a dish (can't recall name) but its tator tots with melted cheese, hamburger, fresh green onions and tomatoes, with sour cream. It is delicious so I am thrilled to find this tator tot casserole recipe(s) but after reading the comments I don't know which version to try first, LOL!!!!
