 Cathy says:
GREAT RECIPE! But I rolled Cookie dough balls in sugar before baking. I used one 12 ounce bag of regular size hershey kisses = 75 kisses. This recipe made 60 - 70 cookies.

Thanks for the tips on the sugar and kisses!

I usually put my kisses on when there's a minute or so left on the bake time. I find if I do this then the kisses don't fall out of the cookie as easily, and they don't melt all the way either. I also do the sugar thing.

Wonderful recipe - thanks! You could also roll the balls in red or green sugar sprinkles for the holidays - they're a little extra-pretty!

Thanks for the tip about putting the kiss on before cookie is completely done. Mine always fall off so will try this to see if it helps.

For those of you who like reese's peanut butter cups, they are a great substitute for the hershey's kisses to mix things up a bit! :-)

I sometimes substitute the kiss with bite size peanut butter cups or bite size snickers. I roll the balls in cinnamon sugar when I use the kiss.

I just baked these with my 15 year old niece and she surprised me by putting the kiss in the cookie before baking it. I thought she was crazy, but they came out perfect and it sure saved time. 35 years of making them, and it never occurred to me to do that. You should try it!

If you put the rolled balls in mini muffin tins you can stick bite size Reese's Peanut butter cups in the middle that are just as good, if not better.

I have baked this recipe for years, but it is the first time I have seen it with butter instead of shortening. Interesting.

I generally use both butter and shortening...I have read and found that using both keeps the cookies from flattening out too much...I do this for all my cookie recipes! LOVE...LOVE...LOVE these cookies...yummy!!!

Try using liquid butter instead of reg. Its the fake stuff they use for frying. Awesome

I find that using butter versus shortening gets me more compliments on my cookies. In fact my husband hates the recipe with shortening.

Thesse cookies turned out AMAZING!! I loved them!! I put the kisses in about 1 minute and 30 seconds before they were done and they seemed to stick better. They turned out super moist and just plain delicious!!!! :):):):)
