A rich chocolate fudge icing piped on is good when you don't have the "kiss"

I typically roll my peanut butter blossoms in cinnamon and sugar before baking and after baking I put the Hershey hug or kiss in right away.

Try putting a miniature dove caramel candy on top. Very good.

If you can find them, Brach's Stars are the best thing to top them with. Hard to find, though.

I have used the stars as well on these cookies. I find them at Mills Fllet Farm. They stay on better. I find the kisses fall off.

I recommend you go 1/2 shortening 1/2 butter, all butter seemed to make the texture much harder. I just did heart shaped dove chocolates instead of kisses to make the valentine cookies.

I place the Hershey kiss upside down after cookie comes out of the oven. The cookie doesn't crumble as much and it keeps the kiss on the top longer. Plus it makes travelling with them much easier.

I've tried several different recipes, and this one is ok, but but nothing like they taste when my mom makes them. My mom is very secretive about her recipes, but I finally got her to admit that she doesn't actually use a peanut butter blossoms recipe. She uses a recipe for peanut butter cookies, which results in a much richer, moister, more peanut buttery flavor. If you like really dense, chewy cookies, you'll likely enjoy my mom's method more than this recipe.

Love this recipe, as I do not like the recipe with shortening or any recipe, so this is perfect. :)
