Tater Tot Casserole

 Jen (United States) says:
The sour cream makes the casserole a bit creamier and allows the tater tots to crisp better than recipes that call for milk. I used light sour cream and added another can of cream of mushroom soup, 2 lbs lean ground beef, and a package of frozen french cut green beans for a delicious complete meal!

Making this for Christmas morning buffet. I'm adding pre-fried breakfast sausage cut into rings and chopped Ortega peppers. I also prefer to use cream of chicken soup. Serving it with a sour dough strata and fresh fruit. It's our traditional Christmas breakfast.

Going to make a tater tot casserole as a side dish but this recipe has delayed my dinner due to the damn funny comments! will be serving it with hamburger steaks if I get them cooked!

While this recipe is good, it is not authentic. This dish was created in Clontarf MN. To make it right, soak the tater tots first in the soup/milk. Then spoon over meat or veggies. You get a nice smooth finish. Like oatmeal.

I always made this for our boy scout dinners when we would go camping. Never any leftovers, I used to love seeing the Dads go up for seconds. I used fresh onions. I will try fried next time I make it. THANKS!

Making this tomorrow. Adding a little dried parsley, dash garlic powder and black pepper, 2 tablespoons bacon bits and increasing grated cheese by 1/4 cup. Using sharp cheddar. Let you how it turns out. These comments gave me a well needed laugh! Needed to lighten up a bit from all preparation. Merry Christmas everyone!! My sister makes this.

My grandma had a version that we all loved which had all these ingredients. She added in addition 1 cup mayo and instead of the fried onions 1 large bag of crushed potato chips. Fab!

Such an easy recipe. It is versatile (you can add frozen veggies in, whatever meat you like or no meat). I replace the soup with evaporated milk and use French onion dip in place of the sour cream. Tangy and cheesy!

This is the BEST TATER TOT CASSEROLE. You can use cubed or shredded frozen potatoes.

I made the casserole with vegetarian sour cream and veggie shredded cheddar cheese. It turned out great! There is some dairy in the mushroom soup, though, so strict vegans will not eat it.

I think we should all just take a moment to be grateful we live in a country where we CAN have and share opinions publicly, and the ability to purchase whatever ingredients we choose to use.
A lot of folks in the world don't have that luxury.
