AUNT NELLA'S COLD OVEN POUND
CAKE
 
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
5 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract

Cream together butter, sugar and Crisco together well. Add eggs one at a time; add flavorings. Add milk alternating with flour (beginning and ending with flour). Turn batter into a greased tube pan and spread batter out evenly.

Put the pan in a cold oven and set the temperature on 275°F.

Bake for 1 1/2 hours turning oven up no higher than 300 degrees. Check for doneness (a toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean).

I made this cake and everbody who ate said it's delicious. Thanks for this recipe.The texture was so smooth. I used light brown sugar and lessen it by one fouth and it's still okay.
