TUNNEL OF FUDGE CAKE
1 1/2 c. soft butter
6 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 pkg. Pillsbury Double Dutch Fudge Buttercream Frosting Mix
2 c. chopped walnuts

Cream butter in large bowl at high speed of mixer. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Gradually add sugar, continue creaming at high speed until light and fluffy. BY HAND stir in flour, frosting mix and walnuts until well blended. Pour into greased Bundt or 10 inch tube pan. Bake for 60 to 65 minutes. Cool 2 hours, remove from pan. Cool completely before serving.

Nuts and double fudge frosting mix are essential to success of this unusual recipe. Cake has a soft fudgy interior. Test for doneness by observing dry, shiny brownie type crust. Can't be tested for doneness by using tester. Don't overbake. Don't use Betty Crocker frosting mixes if unable to find Pillsbury Hy-Vee Fudge Frosting Mix.

I am having difficulty finding Pillsbury Double Fudge Buttercream frosting mix-does anyone know who carries this or if I can buy directly from maker? My family used to love this receipt but you really must use this frosting mix as far as I know and I've been unable to find it in our grocery. Thanks for any help.

The Double Dutch Fudge Buttercream Frosting has been discontinued by Pillsbury. To make buttercream frosting: 2/3 c. butter, softened; 4 c. powdered sugar; 1 tsp. vanilla; and 2 to 4 tbsp. half-and-half or milk, add to mixture; 3 or 4 tbsp. Organic Baking Cocoa from Dutch East Indies. Cocoa has to be of Dutch origin on container. Frosting is Excellent. You will be pleased.

You can get the Dutch processed cocoa on Amazon. Rodelle Gourmet Baking Cocoa - European Dutch processed $9.01/8 oz. Worth it, this recipe was the best ever!

The frosting mix in the recipe was discontinued years ago making it impossible to make the original tunnel of fudge cake.
