APPLE PIE 
3/4 to 1 c. sugar
1-2 tbsp. all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Dash of salt
9 inch pie pastry
6 c. sliced peeled apples
2 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Mix sugar, flour, spices and salt. Sprinkle half the sugar mixture in the pie crust. Pile in the apple slices and top with remaining sugar. Dot with butter and sprinkle over lemon juice. Put top crust in place, seal and crimp edges and cut several slits on top. Bake on lower shelf of oven at 425 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until crust is nicely browned and filling starts to bubble. Check apples by inserting a small knife through a slit to be certain they are tender.
