Thank you for sharing! I often make these with a vanilla cake mix and a seasonal candy, such as Christmas M&Ms. I have a family member who likes candy corn, so I once made a batch with candy corn M&Ms (those were limited edition, I think). He enjoyed them.

I've used this recipe a few times. It's great when I need to bring something to an event or family gathering.

Needed something quick to make for a visiting kiddo (short notice) for Thanksgiving. Grabbed an Orange Supreme Cake Mix and a Dark Chocolate Orange I had bought to snack on during holiday cooking. Smashed up the dark chocolate orange into little pieces, and threw it in the mix. Well let me tell ya... they were A-MAAAAAZING! His mama was so happy we made him "special cookies" she asked for the recipe!

My Recipe became: French Vanilla Walnut Granola Cookies tasted wonderful & not too sweet. Healthier too! I used a Duncan Hines French Vanilla mix, 1/3 C. oil, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, 1/2 C. granola cereal, 1 lg. egg, 3/4 t. vanilla, a splash of water IF a little dry. I used a rounded 1/2 T. measuring spoon to drop out quickly on cooking sheet (making them uniform and perfectly rounded, plus so EASY!) Baked 11 minutes 350°F (for my oven) and they were perfect!! Bottoms were perfectly light golden browned. Wonderful recipe cookie base for any kind of quick and easy cookie desired. Makes so many! Highly recommend! Loved reading others' ideas.

1/4 cup water is not enough. I use a tad more than 1/3 cup water so the dough is soft enough (but not too soft) so the cookies don't spread. Even with 1/3 cup the cookies are delicious!

Added 1 cup each of pecans, coconut, milk chocolate chips, drizzle with caramel sauce when warm. Fabulous! Baking time is critical for a nice soft cookie. 12 minutes on my 3-inch diameter cookie.

Used yellow sugar free cake mix. Added 3/4 cup of chopped walnuts and 3/4 cup sugar free chocolate chips. Baked for 16 minutes at 350°F. They were very good cookies.

I did this with a sugar free yellow cake mix, I added 1/2 cup unsweetened dutch cocoa. I used a small ice cream scoop, rolled into a ball, then squished with a glass. Some I rolled in powdered sugar, kind of defeats the sugar free component, but it they were delicious.

I ever had very few items in my pantry so I look at this recipe and thought I'd try it. I have a cake mix so I figured why not. Then I got a little creative. I also had a jello cheesecake cake mix in the cabinet. I mix the jello cheesecake cake mix which by the way was came with crushed Oreo cookies and a peppermint topping, increase the water by one eighth of a cup, I did some leftover maraschino cherries, quarter cup half a cup (I'm sorry) of brown sugar, half a cup of oatmeal just to feel like I'm being a little healthy. I mix it all real good together and then vaulted up into small balls. Roll the balls in powdered sugar and bake at 350°F for 12 minutes. Oh my goodness, that was the best thing ever put in my mouth! I called them powdered chocolate cherry cheesecake balls. You have to try them, they're delish!

Used Duncan Hines butter cake mix. Used canola oil instead of butter. Added buttermilk and vanilla flavor. Very tasty cookie. Grandkids loved them and credited me for spending hours lol. Thanks! For the recipe.

Very thick batter for a surprisingly delicate cookie. I used lemon with candied lemon bits. On the last round, added some toasted coconut (nice texture). All in all Big Yum Factor. I would encourage a silpat or parchment, a measured scoup (my dough/batter was very sticky), and flattening them somewhat with a water dampened press.
