SPLIT PEA SOUP 
Ham bone & ham
1 tsp. salt
Pepper
4 qt. water
2 bags split peas, wash off
4 carrots, grated
1 onion, whole
1 celery stalk (whole) & some leaves

Put in all at one time. Let come to boil with lid on half way for about 1/2 hour, stir occasionally. Simmer 1 1/2 hours. Take out celery, onion and ham bone. Take off ham from bone and put ham back in and let simmer another 1/2 hour without lid.
