PORK TONKATSU (FRIED BREADED PORK) | |
4 pork fillets or steak, deboned (1 per serving) 4 tbsp. soy sauce 4 tbsp. Sake (Japanese rice wine) 1 garlic clove, crushed Pinch black pepper 1 egg, beaten 1 green onion, chopped 1 c. panko (Japanese bread crumbs) Peanut oil for frying (Available at Japanese market, Pak N Save, and Fry's in Oriental section.) Pound fillets until thin. Marinate for 1/2 hour in a mixture of soy sauce, sake, garlic and pepper. Mix the beaten egg and green onion and dip each pork slice into the mixture. Place the crumbs into the pork. Place on trays covered with wax paper and chill for 1 hour. |
