I add coconut (1/2 cup) and dried fruit (1/2 cup) OR sesame seeds (1/8 cup) to the published recipe. Not much s.s. as the flavor goes a long way. Can substitute with dark chocolate cocoa powder (same amount).

I made these tonight. I added chopped walnuts, raisins, and some chocolate chips, they are very rich and very good.

Just made these and they turned out wonderful. When I make cookies like this they usually don't set up well and this recipe worked like a charm. I am pretty sure my husband is going to love them because this is his favorite cookie. I will have this one added to my cook book and use it often. Thanks for the wonderful recipe.

I've been making these for years. I use half the sugar and they are plenty sweet enough. Thanks for a great site!

My family and I love this recipe. I just got done making them and my sister was licking the pot clean. I do, however, add a few (2-3) cups more so it's more solid but the rest of the measurements are perfect!

I made these as a demonstration food in my cooking class at school many many years ago. It has always been a favorite when I was growing up on the farm. So easy and fun to make. They never lasted more than a few days.
