“SCONES” IS IN:

SCONES 
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 cup dairy sour cream
1/2 cup raisins
1 egg, separated

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and a dash of salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center.

In a separate bowl, mix dairy sour cream, raisins and egg yolk. Add all at once to flour mixture. Mix together with a fork. Knead quickly 10 to 12 strokes.

Pat into a 7-inch circle. Cut into 12 wedges. Arrange on a cookie sheet 1-inch apart. Brush with slightly beaten egg white.

Bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes until light brown.
