BASIC SCONE MIX (BISCUITS) | |
3 cups all-purpose flour 3 tsp. baking powder 2 oz. butter 1/2 cup milk Mix flour and baking powder. Melt butter, add milk and stir. Add to flour mixture and blend with a knife, cutting the butter and flour together. Note: Add more milk, if necessary. Mixture should not be too dry or too moist. Gently pat out the mixture into an oblong with your fingertips. Do not not pound or roll out. Cut into even squares. Can be cut out into rounds using a glass. Bake at in hot (400°F) oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Variations: Add cheese, golden raisins, or dates at the end of mixing (dredge the fruit with a little flour). Bake in recommended way.
