1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg
Pinch of salt

Sift together 1 1/2 cup flour with 3 tablespoons cocoa and mix well with first ingredients. Then add 1 cup boiling water with 1 teaspoon baking soda in it. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

Bake 1/2 hour at 350 degrees. Use small greased pan.
