HAM AND BEAN SOUP 
2 lb. dry navy beans
2 qt. + 1 c. water
2 bay leaves
3-4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 tsp. salt
1 med. onion, chopped
Pepper to taste
1 ham bone
1 lb. ham, cubed
1 tsp. garlic powder

Combine in large crock pot; water, beans, bone, bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Cook 8 hours on low. Then remove leaves and bone. Mash beans to consistence of paste. Add remaining ingredients and cook on low for at least another 6 hours. If more water is needed during cooking, don't hesitate to add a little at a time.
