CREAM CHEESE BARS | |
1/3 c. butter, soft 1/3 c. brown sugar 1 c. flour 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened 1/4 c. sugar 1 egg 2 tbsp. milk 1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. vanilla In bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. On low speed of electric mixer, blend in flour and walnuts. Remove 1 cup of crumb mixture, reserving for topping. Press remaining crumb mixture into bottom of greased 8" square pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 12 minutes or until golden. Meanwhile, in bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sugar, egg, milk, lemon juice and vanilla, beating well. Spread cream cheese mixture over hot baked crust. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over top. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes. Cool in pan on rack. Cut into 2" squares. Store in refrigerator. |
