SOUR CREAM APPLE SQUARES 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1 - 2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lg. egg
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. peeled, finely chopped, tart cooking apples

Blend together flour, sugar and butter. Stir in nuts. Press 2 3/4 cup crumb mixture into ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Add remaining crumbs; stirring in apples at the last. Spoon evenly over crumb base. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes; or until toothpick comes out clean. Cut into squares and serve hot or cold.
