SOUR CREAM APPLE SQUARES 
2 c. flour
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. nuts, chopped
1-2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 c. peeled, finely chopped apples

Combine flour, brown sugar and butter in a large bowl. Blend at low speed until fine crumbs form. Stir in nuts. Press 2 3/4 cups of this mixture firmly into ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Combine remaining crumb mixture with cinnamon, baking soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg; blend well. Stir chopped apples into batter; spoon evenly over crumb base.

Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Cool, cut into squares. Top with whipped cream, powdered sugar or ice cream. Store loosely covered.
