SOUR CREAM APPLE SQUARES 
2 c. flour
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. nuts
1 - 2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
2 c. chopped apples

Blend flour, brown sugar, and butter until crumbly. Stir in 1 cup nuts. Press 2 3/4 cups of mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. To remaining mixture add the rest of the ingredients except the apples. Blend well, then add apples. Spoon this mixture over the crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes. Serve plain or with Cool Whip.
