3/4 c. butter, butter, or Crisco
2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. hot applesauce
3 tsp. baking soda (in sm. amount warm water)
1 tsp. baking powder
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
4 c. flour
1 c. raisins
1 c. pecans
1 c. candied fruit

Mix butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg. Mix well. Add hot applesauce. Add soda mixed in warm water. Sift baking powder, cocoa, nutmeg, cloves, and flour together. Add to first mixture slowly and blend until all is well mixed. Add raisins, fruits, and nuts. Mix well. Bake 1 hour at 375 degrees.
