3 c. applesauce, sweetened
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar

Boil 5 minutes. Let stand overnight. 3 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. nutmeg 2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 lb. dates 1 lb. raisins 1/4 lb. each nuts, candied cherries, pineapple, and citron (I use the citron mix 1 or 2 lb. etc.)

Dredge nuts and fruit in flour, soda, and spices. Mix all ingredients together. Bake in greased and floured pans filled 2/3 full 2 1/2 hours or until done at 250 degrees.
