CAKE
 
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. vegetable shortening
2/3 c. raisins
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. powdered cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. water
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Boil sugar, water, shortening, raisins, and spices for 3 minutes. Cool. Add salt and baking powder dissolved in the 2 teaspoons water to sugar mixture. Gradually add flour and baking powder to batter. Bake in 8"x8"x2" pan at 325 degrees for about 50 minuets.
