EGGLESS, MILKLESS, BUTTERLESS
CAKE
 
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/4 c. water
1 c. raisins
1 1/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Boil sugar, water, fruit, shortening and spices together in a saucepan for three minutes. When cool, add flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda which have been sifted together; mix well. Bake in greased 8" square pan at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or more. Test for doneness.
