MILKLESS, EGGLESS, BUTTERLESS
CAKE
 
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. coffee
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. raisins
Spices to taste

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Boil above mixture 3 minutes, then cool until lukewarm. Add:

1 level teaspoon baking soda
2 cups flour sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Lastly, add:

1/2 cup chopped nuts

Bake in a greased loaf pan until a cake tester or toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (about 45 minutes).
