SCALLOPED TURNIPS 
2 c. sliced turnips
2 c. sliced carrots
1/2 c. sliced onions
1 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
Grated cheese
Crackers

Heat 1 cup water and 1 cup milk to boiling, add vegetables, 1 teaspoon salt. Add 1 tablespoon butter, cook covered until vegetables are tender. Put in casserole, grate 1 cup cheese and crush, 5 tablespoon crackers, cover top of vegetables. Dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
