COLD OVEN POUND CAKE | |
This is the best pound cake I have ever tried and practically "no fail". 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 2 3/4 cups sugar 5 eggs 3 cups plus 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1 cup sweet whole milk 2 tsp. lemon extract 1 tsp. vanilla extract Cream butter, shortening and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix salt in with flour. Note: If you use the pre-sifted flour, no need to sift. Add flour alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour. Add flavorings (you can change these according to taste), beat well. Pour into tube or Bundt pan and start in a cold oven.
