Cold Oven Pound Cake

I have a recipe that's similar to this but the ovens I have access to preheat they don't have just a bake setting where the oven slowly heats it just heats fast to get to the set heat. When I bake in the oven starting cold but with the auto preheat the cake is dry and the top isn't the gooey goodness it was with my old oven. Any suggestions on how to get the same effect with the auto preheat?

Hi Jen,

I'm no expert, but I would think that you can't make a "cold oven" pound cake because of the preheat thingee. But that doesn't mean you can't bake a pound cake. Not all pound cakes start out in a cold oven. Pound cakes baked in preheated ovens turn out just as good. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Tried it for the first time today. I had to add 25 mins to baking time. Success! The cake cooked through without charring the outside.

I've made this cake using this recipe many times and it's always perfect. My family loves this pound cake and it's just like any pound cake I have had growing up. It's super good. I love the fact that I never have to preheat the oven!!!
