PECAN PIE SURPRISE 
1 box cake mix, white or yellow
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 egg

FILLING:

2/3 c. cake mix
1/2 c. dark brown sugar
3/4 c. dark syrup
3/4 c. light syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans, chopped

Reserve 2/3 cup of dry cake mix. Combine remaining cake mix, egg, and butter. Press into a 9 x 13 inch pan and bake until light brown in a 350 degree oven. Combine the ingredients for filling except the pecans. Pour over browned cake. Sprinkle with nuts and bake 30 minutes or until brown and firm.
