BOLOGNA SANDWICH
Buy some ham or bologna (one pack) and some bread (one loaf) and buy a little jar of mustard. Then you make yourself a bologna sandwich. Put the bread down on the table, put the bologna on it. Spread the mustard on the bologna. Put another piece of bread on the bologna, then eat it with some milk. Then clean up.

I must applaud whomever came up with this recipe. I'm with everyone who puts a fried egg and toast with the fried bologna. My papa had a corner store and there were 8 in our family. We really knew how to enjoy bologna. Yellow mustard and all.

I can't believe it! I've been making my bologna sandwiches wrong for almost 40 years. Thank you so much. I will now start putting the mustard on the bologna.

Ask any kid: it's bologna with KETCHUP on soft cheap white bread

 Terry (Illinois) replies:
I'm with Maureen: Rindless bologna on squishy white bread with Miracle Whip, Fritos on the side - grade school fine dining.

Slapped together standing in front of the fridge - bologna, ketchup or Heinz 57 for that "Top Chef" touch, on any old bread, roll it up and eat it before the family sees you do it - menopausal fine dining.

Dee Ann we call that fried bologna

 Debbie (Kentucky) says:
The best bologna is to have deli bologna, fresh bread, slice tomatoes and Miracle Whip. Put Miracle Whip on each slice of bread along with desired tomato slices and bologna. Add a helping of chips and a glass of ice tea. Great summer lunch.

I like bologna fried really crisp then to smear a little mustard on it, but no one has mentioned it curling up when frying. As kids, my friend and I would cut it into a pinwheel shape while frying.

Fry the bologna, then dice it. Melt Velveeta in a non-stick pan and spread it on some bread. Put it on a plate and sprinkle with the diced bologna, then cover with stewed tomatoes. Poor man's pizza!!!

I've used this recipe with great success, my family loves it! But when company's coming I like to "fancy" it up a bit by adding a slice of cheese and a lettuce leaf. If the budget allows maybe a slice of tomato.. Decadent? Yes, but well worth it!

As a kid, and even now as an adult, my version of the bologna sandwich is to fry two pieces of bologna, place on bread. In between the hot meat add a slice of American cheese and on top of it all add a fried egg. Wonderful!!

I, like everyone else, had to check out the "Bologna Sandwich" recipe on the side of the site. I was thinking maybe there was something new, some crazy, new & exciting way of making my childhood fave! But, after reading everyone's comments, I realize some things just don't ever need updating! Some are great just the way we like 'em! Now I have to try to remember what I was looking for on this site in the first place!

Am I the only person who's fried bologna makes a big bump in the middle?
 #73748
 Fran (Ontario) says:
yes it will make a bump in the middle! You take a knife and make a slice in the middle, then slice the outside rim (4-5 slashes around) for it not to curl!

In frying pan take a slice of bologna with the rind removed, heat on medium until lightly browned, flip on other side. while this is browning, take 2 slices of wheat bread place on plate. On 1 slice of bread began slathering Blue Plate mayo and spiced mustard on the other. pick a slice of bread to begin compiling ingredients to and add tomato slices, lettuce leafs, slice of cheese of your choice, place fried bologna on top, add sliced dill pickle chips on top, add Lay's plain potato chips on that and cover with other slice of bread. Slightly mashed down so it will fit in mouth and enjoy
