MEATLOAF JOES | |
The flavors of a homestyle meatloaf in Sloppy Joe form! Serving sizes are subjective -- we like our sandwiches BIG! 1 lb. lean ground beef 1 medium yellow or white onion, sliced 3 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 cup ketchup 2/3 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. mustard 2 tbsp. olive oil, divided salt and pepper, to taste burger buns In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef in 1 tablespoon olive oil with salt and pepper to taste. In a second skillet over medium-high heat, saute onions in remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil with salt and pepper to taste until onions are golden, about 8 to 10 minutes. When beef is browned, stir in Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar and mustard. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes. To serve, lightly toast burger buns. Spoon meat mixture on bun bottoms, then top with sauteed onions and cover with bun tops. Note: Add cheese slices to sandwich if desired. Submitted by: Carol |
