ROYAL ICING FOR PIPING AND
COOKIE DECORATING
 
Mix:

1 pound confectioners' sugar
3 tablespoons meringue powder
6 tablespoons warm water

Beat for 5 minutes on medium speed of mixer. Fill a pastry bag with icing tip. Use for piping to outline along the edges of cookies, on cakes, gingerbread, etc. Use to attach decorations on cookies such as sprinkles and colored sugars. Can also be used to glue gingerbread house seams together.

If flavored icing is desired, replace 1/2-1 teaspoon of the water with flavoring extract of your choice. For pure white opaque icing, use a few drops of Wilton's White White Icing Color. Use icing gel colors to color tint the icing.

To make icing for flooding, add a few drops of water until icing can be poured onto cookie surface. The icing should have the consistency of heavy cream.
