EASY ITALIAN WHITE BREAD | |
2 pkgs. dry yeast 2 1/2 c. lukewarm water 2 tbsp. honey 1 1/2 tbsp. or 1 tbsp. salt 2 tbsp. oil 7 to 8 c. unbleached flour, you can use 1/2 c. 7 grains and 1/2 c. oats put in blender for part of flour for variety Sprinkle yeast over water in large bowl. Add honey and let stand 5 minutes. Mix until yeast is blended. Add salt, oil and 3 cups flour. Mix well, and mix in 3 more cups flour. Sprinkle 1 cup flour on surface and turn out dough and knead until smooth. Add more flour if needed. Place dough in greased bowl to rise. Turn dough to greased top. Cover and let rise in warm place 1 1/2 hours. Punch down. Divide two ways if want long roll or three ways if shorter. Roll out in oblong or circle. Grab one edge and roll up like jelly roll. Put on cookie sheet and sprinkle with cornmeal. Rise until double. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. |
