FRESH APPLE CAKE AND HOT BUTTER
RUM SAUCE
 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 c. chopped apples
1 c. chopped nuts
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Cream butter; add sugar and beat until light. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together. Stir in apples and nuts. Bake in a 9 x 13 pan for 45-50 minutes at 325 degrees.

HOT BUTTER RUM SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. light cream or half and half
Rum flavoring to taste

In saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and cream. Stir occasionally until hot. Stir in rum and serve over hot cake.
