YEAST BISCUITS 
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. warm water
3 tbsp. soft shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl. Add shortening, salt, sugar and flour; mix well. Knead 15-20 times on floured board. Roll out approximately 1/2-inch thick. Cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

Place biscuits on a cookie sheet; brush tops with cooking oil and let rise, until double in size, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Bake in a 375 degree oven 12 minutes. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen biscuits.
