VELVET CRUMB CAKE 
1 1/2 c. Bisquick baking mix
2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk (or water)
1 tsp. vanilla

Grease and flour square pan (8 x 8 x 2 inches). Beat all ingredients on low speed of electric mixer for 30 seconds. Scrape bowl constantly. Beat at medium speed for 4 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool slightly. Spread with Topping below.

TOPPING MIX:

1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
3 tbsp. butter, softened
2 tbsp. milk

Combine above topping ingredients. Spread over cooled cake. Set oven control to BROIL. Broil about 3 minutes or until topping is golden brown in color.
