VELVET CRUMB CAKE 
1 1/2 c. Bisquick
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk or water
2 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla

BROILED TOPPING:

1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. chopped nuts
3 tbsp. butter, softened
2 tbsp. milk

Grease and flour 8x8x2-inch or round 9 x 1 1/2-inch pan. Beat all ingredients except topping on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on medium, scraping bowl every 4 minutes. Pour in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool slightly.

Mix topping and spread on cake. Broil about 3 inches from heat until golden brown.
