BUTTERMILK PIE 
2/3 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. flour
1/2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. lemon extract
2 egg yolks
2 egg whites (meringue)

Recipe came from Alcorn Co., Mississippi

To beaten egg yolks, add buttermilk, sugar and butter. Mix well. Beat flour into a little sweet milk and add to mixture. Add lemon flavoring. Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake in a moderate oven. (Since this recipe was my mother's and it came from her Old Home Comfort Range Wood Stove Cookbook, no degrees of temperature was given. Suggested was 350 degrees to cook it 45-50 minutes.) Spread with meringue (2 egg whites and 2 tablespoons sugar). Return to oven and brown.
