GOLDEN PUFF | |
10 slices white bread (4 c.) 6 eggs 3 c. milk 2 tbsp. minced parsley 3/4 tsp. dry mustard 1/2 tsp. salt (opt.) 2 c. shredded sharp American cheese 2 c. meat (ham, bacon, shrimp) Heat oven to 325 degrees. Cut bread into cubes. Beat eggs, milk and seasonings. Stir in bread cubes, cheese and meat. Pour into oblong baking pan, 8"x12"x2". Bake, uncovered for 1 hour or until center is set. Serves 8. Low cholesterol substitutions: use Egg Beaters to equal 6 eggs, skim or low fat milk, low fat cheese and 96% fat free meat. The recipe may be prepared ahead of time and kept in refrigerator, unbaked overnight. Can be frozen after baking in serving sizes to be used as needed. Great for luncheon dish prepared with shrimp or crab. This recipe in quantities was used at the Ash Wednesday breakfast. |
