GINGERBREAD 
1 c. sour milk
1 c. molasses
2 tsp. ginger
4 tbsp. shortening
1 3/4 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix soda and milk well. Add molasses, then add flour sifted with ginger and salt. Add shortening and beat thoroughly. Bake at 350 degrees. Check in about 20 minutes for doneness. Insert toothpick if you wish.
