GINGERBREAD SHORTCAKE 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
2 tbsp. cinnamon
1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. sour milk
1 egg
1 c. molasses
1 c. heavy cream

Sift together all dry ingredients. Heat to boiling molasses and shortening. Add milk and egg to dry ingredients and stir quickly into hot molasses mixture. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 20 to 25 minutes in two greased layer pans. Cool and cover with whipped cream.
