GRANDMOTHER'S GINGERBREAD 
Blend:

1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
Stir in 3/4 c. molasses

Combine and add alternately with:

1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon

Bake in well greased, floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees.

To sour milk: Add 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup sweet milk.

Try serving it this way: Top square serving of cake with 1/2 canned peach. Pour over peach and cake: lemon sauce or butterscotch sauce (delicious).
