 Pops (Georgia) says:
Where's the cornmeal, and how much? Silly me, but cornbread has cornmeal in it, correct?

 Donna Gunsalus (Florida) says:
How can it be a cornbread cake when it has no corn meal in it?

 Tammy (Rhode Island) replies:
As the other comment points out, its a CAKE that LOOKS like cornbread.

 Jason (California) says:
Traditional cornbread is made without sugar or flour. As a requirement, it MUST have cornmeal.

In Georgia, some people cook modern versions of cornbread made with either sugar, or flour, or both (or, horrors, with a mix). We do NOT speak to these people.

Wait a second, this recipe has NO CORN IN IT, whole or meal. It is NOT cornbread at all. Adding pecans does not make it Georgian. This is a cake recipe. It is not traditional cornbread. Or cornbread at all.

No cornmeal?

 Allison Brown (Georgia) replies:
FYI ALL - Cornbread CAKE does not contain any cornmeal but got its name from its appearance; it looks just like cornbread. Next thing you'll be saying is... coffee cake has no coffee. Hah.

 Julie (North Carolina) replies:
That was rude. How would a person who is not from Georgia possibly know that something with cornbread in the name isn't cornbread?

I made mine with 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts in a square cake pan. Baked almost an hour. Came out crunchy on top which was good. Very sweet and moist. Ate mine plain but am going to try with a little vanilla ice cream.

Everything was great but I think 45 mins is the best baking time

I made this recipe also. I used only one cup of flour and used 1/2 cup cornmeal and only 1 cup pecans. Everything else was the same. Cooked for only 35 minutes. Delicious. Will definitely make it again.
